Science Made Easy Review:

Dr. Henry Brouwer, a professor of Chemistry and Environmental Science at Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ontario, has developed a 4 DVD series entitled Science Made Easy. It includes 300 science demonstrations and activities for the elementary-level teacher or parent.  Since many teachers and parents do not have in-depth training in science, this extensive yet easy to follow series allows them to view, better understand, and demonstrate certain principles to their
students. The wide range of physical science topics include Properties of Matter, Properties of Water, Density, Sound, Air Pressure, Heat, Light, Static and Current Electricity, Magnetism, Solutions, Chemistry, Fluids in Motion, Motion, Forces, Work and Simple Machines, Earth Sciences, and Weather. Dr. Brouwer also clearly explains the basic instruments and materials that are needed and where to locate them. Tips and added activities are included to motivate children to think for themselves and to be involved in the entire process.

This work is very thorough, informative, and beneficial. A teacher or parent can easily adapt their present curriculum by reviewing a demonstration on a particular topic and incorporating that concept with a demonstration the very next day in class. Since many learners are visual, student's understanding and interest in the topic will ultimately be enhanced. Although the audio quality is not superior, its message is still easily understood and of great benefit. I am very impressed with this science resource. It will serve as a very valuable tool in our home school curriculum. It will not only give me the confidence and support when teaching a topic I am doubtful of, it will serve as a guide how to do that more successfully. I highly recommend this as a very helpful and practical science resource for any elementary teacher.
